About the Author

R. Kevin Pegg, Ph.D. is a USPTO Registered Patent Agent (Reg. No. 33,989) and biochemist with a PhD in Molecular Biophysics, a Master's degree in Environmental Toxicology, and postdoctoral training in Biochemical Engineering, with additional technical training spanning electronics, robotics, optics, and software engineering.

As both an inventor and a patent agent, he brings a perspective most practitioners cannot: a named inventor on 25 patent applications, with numerous U.S. and international patents granted, spanning nearly four decades of active USPTO practice across mechanical, electronic, chemical, biochemical, and genetic technologies — hundreds of searches, filings, and office actions.

His inventing career began among the first monoclonal antibody-based rapid assay devices and continued through rapid electronic biosensors for COVID-19 detection, with research funding from the Department of Defense (SBIR), the National Science Foundation, and the Environmental Protection Agency, plus private equity including a NASDAQ IPO, a SPAC raise, and a Regulation A+ (Tier 2) public offering.

He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemistry (FAIC), a 20-year tenured professor of Biotechnology and Microbiology, published author, and invited lecturer, and a member of Sigma Xi, SPIE, the Union of Concerned Scientists, and the Patent and Trademark Office Society (PTOS).
